Classic Aftercare instructions
After your tattoo, your artist will dress your it with a bandage. Wear it for a minimum of 30 minutes and a max 2 hours. Wash your tattoo with warm water, your hand and fragrance free soap, then pat dry with a clean towel. Do not rebandage it, let breath for the remainder of the healing process (approx. two weeks)
We recommend using tiger spit or your preferred ointment (aquafor, A&D, coconut oil, etc) as an aftercare and apply 1-2 times a day, no more than that. Use thin later and only use once your tattoo has started feeling dry, flaky or pealing. Do not pick or scratch tattoo, let it do it’s own thing. Patting the tattoo to alleviate itch is okay.
No sunbathing, tanning, soaking or swimming. Always wear sunscreen to protect your tattoos.
If you have any questions about your tattoo after care do not hesitate to contact us. Don’t listen to your friends, mom or any so-called tattoo experts, as they don’t have the years of experience to answer your questions like your artist does.
Transparent waterproof dressings
We use a variety of brands of dressing, such as Second Skin, Saniderm, Tiger Spit, Amazon, etc. If you need the exact brand your artist has used they will be able to tell you at time of appointment.
After your tattoo artist places the clear bandage on your new tattoo, it should be left on by the amount of time that was recommended by your artist. (Usually 2-5 days, no longer than 7 days)
It is normal for fluid to build up and then dissipate under the bandage.
If the seal on the bandage has broken, is leaking, or your skin seems to be having a reaction (red and irritated on the edge of the bandage) please remove the bandage and proceed with normal tattoo aftercare practices.
When removing the bandage, it is best to do it in warm water to help loosen the adhesive.
Gently pull the bandage over itself in the direction of hair growth, try to avoid pulling upwards.
After the bandage is removed, washed the area with neutral unscented soap and warm water. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
When your tattoo is dry use and unscented white lotion for comfort.
